WHAT’S BEST…
A PBX OR A KSU FOR MULTI-LINE PHONE SERVICE? |
There was a time when PBXs were only for big companies. True enough PBXs offer many advantages for small businesses and modern homes. They are easy to install… only one pair of wires per telephone. And the phones are a dream: cheap, simple, easy to use. PBXs use single line phones without any buttons. And did we say inexpensive? PBX phones are off-the-shelf; available from a dozen sources rather than a single proprietary vendor.
So why do so many homes use KSUs (key systems) rather than PBXs? Well, traditional technology did not let you design and manufacture a small PBX. Engineers thought, “You cannot have a small steel mill and you cannot have a small PBX.” Today, you still can’t have a backyard steel mill but Tropical Telecom proved that small PBXs are both possible and practical.
If you use microcomputers for controllers, high speed digital signal processors and clever software, the result is the TropTel 2810C. A true PBX the size of a dictionary rather than a refrigerator. Moreover, the 2810C is packed with all kinds of things to automate your phone service. And you don’t need a PhD from Stanford to operate it.
